SHE

An augmented dance performance

SHE is an augmented dance performance, which tells a story of the body of a classical ballet dancer, who goes beyond the usual mode of stage existence and explores a performative mode of presence. The performance questions the relationship to the artist/dancer’s body. What is a body placed in a stage space and what is actually important and valuable on stage. What does everyone want to see on stage? An art machine or a real person? SHE uses sensors that respond to the movements of the performer, so it creates an interactive sound score of the performance. For the SHE performance, the art studio Ninja Guru developed their own wrist motion gesture tracking system, which allows the dancer to overtake the control of the sound part by the choreography, building a deep connection between dance and sound.

SHE performance is the Winner of the Vivo d’Arte Prize of Romaeuropa Festival 2020.
