The short piece is inspired by the song of the same name by Barbara Pravi. In it, the singer speaks of her journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and the desire to show herself as she truly is – despite vulnerability, fears, and insecurities. These themes resonate deeply with me as a dancer. On stage, I am exposed, revealing myself naked and vulnerable. In dance, one is so often confronted with external expectations of how to move, how to look, how to be. Judgment is ever-present. Voilà – meaning “here I am, this is me” – thus becomes a profoundly personal work, embodying my own journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance as a dancer.
